It is believed that pretzels originated from a monastery and that it is shaped as such to represent a child’s arms folded in prayer.  The monks call it Pretiola, meaning little reward, because they give this away to children who have memorized bible verses or said their prayers.  These delectable snack have surely become mainstream as pretzels are sold all over the world now but it remains famous in European states.

Pretzel is recognized as the second most popular snack after potato chips.  What makes this a fun snack is that there are many things you can do with it.  You can dip it with chocolate, sprinkle it with sugar or add a certain topping.  You don’t have to wait for monks to give you this goodies because you can reward yourself by making your own homemade pretzels.
